Feeling Drained?
This is a simple but significant post to help in a time where so many of us are emotionally and mentally drained. Here are some quick tips I hope will help you during this time or serve as a resource in the future. May you find strength, support and peace where you need it.
How to HELP YOU Cope in the midst of stress and chaoS
Stay aware of your emotions and reactions. Take a mental health break when you need to before your emotions get the better of you and cause you to react in a way you may regret.
Find a positive way to express your feelings. Allow yourself to feel, use your voice and let people know if something they’ve said or done is troubling you. Don’t keep sadness and anger bottled up, it will add to your stress.
Practice relaxation methods to cope with stress. These could include prayer, deep breathing, meditation, and exercise.
Take care of your body. When you have a lot going on emotionally and mentally, it’s easy to forget the toll that takes on you physically. Make sure you’re eating properly and getting enough sleep.
Stay connected. Though we are still physically distancing for the most part, it’s important to stay socially connected. Talk to your circle, join a Facebook group, take advantage of virtual meetings to keep in touch with those that can offer support.
Control your consumption. Stay informed, but don’t be consumed by social media and news outlets. Take a mental health break when you need to. You decide your vibe, look for positivity to draw your focus to.
Be the change. Look for productive and impactful ways to use your influence, voice and righteous anger to be the change you want to see.
